Job Fair 2019

In collaboration with Stichting Leren Helpt!, we are organizing a Job Market. The goal of this Job Market is to help people from the Amsterdam region with a (language) disadvantage in the labor market find a job.

As a co-signatory of the 'Amsterdam works for everyone' Covenant, we know how important it is for people to participate in society and that work and education play a key role in this. However, we also know that too many people remain on the sidelines because they have not yet mastered the Dutch language and culture sufficiently.

With this Job Market, we want to help non-native Amsterdammers who struggle to participate in society. Due to their language disadvantage, non-native speakers often lack the knowledge and confidence to find suitable work. Non-native speakers indicate that they would like to work, but have difficulty finding appropriate vacancies. This can be a reason for not working and thus stands in the way of social participation. However, social participation in the form of work or another form of daily activity is important because it improves people's perception of health and well-being, and because it contributes to social cohesion and the livability of Amsterdam.

The Job Market will take place in Osdorp, in the Nieuw-West district, on May 23, 2019.

At the Job Market, non-native Amsterdammers can find inspiration for their careers, work on their self-confidence, and get in touch with companies and organizations that can (in)directly help them in their search for (paid) work.

We offer the following activities:

  • Workshops: pitching yourself, using Social Media, creating a CV, ONA
  • Job Market with information stands
  • Speed dating with potential employers
  • Activities: CV check, vocational interest test, portrait photographer
  • Vacancy wall

Would you like to contribute to this job market? You can. Leave a message and we will contact you.

Go to the job market page for the program and to register. Registration for the workshops is open until May 18, 2019.
