TopTaal & Literacy Week

This year, TopTaal is once again committed to Literacy Week by organizing several activities for low-literate individuals and students.

Activiteiten Week van de Alfabetisering

Activities during Literacy Week

Literacy Week is organized by the Reading & Writing Foundation with the aim of drawing attention to the 2.5 million low-literate people in the Netherlands. TopTaal organizes various activities to contribute to the awareness of the importance of language.

Speed dating

One of the activities TopTaal is organizing is a speed dating games day. In collaboration with care centers, TopTaal is organizing the speed dating games day. A pleasant morning or afternoon shared by the elderly and our students (newcomers to the Netherlands). The goal of this day is to provide a fun day for the elderly and to allow students to practice speaking the Dutch language. This creates a win-win situation. And who knows, long-term friendships may even develop.

These are private activities.

Musical story time

More than 1 in 10 children leave primary school with insufficient language skills. Reading aloud is important. That is why, during Literacy Week, TopTaal is organizing an interactive musical story time for children aged 2 to 8. The musical reading performance will be given by Maria Romijn.

The performance

Literacy Week_Story Time

On September 11, the story time will feature the performance 'Stuck', based on the book by Oliver Jeffers. It is about a kite that gets stuck in a tree. Floyd tries to get it loose with his shoe, but that gets stuck too. He throws a cat, a sink, a rhino, a lighthouse... into the tree. And everything gets stuck! How will it end?

Book market

TopTaal employees have collected books so that every child can be given one. Of course, the parents haven't been forgotten either. The book market will take place immediately following the reading performance.

Curious to see how the story ends? Come by and experience it! Everyone is welcome.

Language Café presents: "Sing along with me"

Language Café Program _ Literacy Week
