I had a wonderful teacher. She also helped with other things that were not for school. She made the lessons fun. — Fakhroldin, student
Costs & payment
Courses that we offer in collaboration with municipalities are free of charge. Please contact us to see if your municipality also offers free courses.
Loan
For some courses, you can borrow money from the government’s Education Executive Agency (DUO). On this site www.inburgeren.nl you will find more information about applying for a student loan.
How does it work?
Here you can read what happens when you take a course with us:
1. Registration
You fill in the online form. In this form, you indicate which course you wish to follow.
2. Intake
We will contact you to make an appointment for an intake. During the intake, we test your level and your learning ability. We ask about your motivation, background, and availability to determine which course suits you best.
3. Personal learning path
At the start of the course, we discuss your personal learning goal. We look at how you can achieve this goal and what help is needed for that. We align the path with your learning goal.
4. Lessons
You will be placed in a group of students with the same learning speed and the same language level. The teacher ensures that the lesson material aligns well with your level and what you want to learn.
5. Homework
In addition to the lessons in class, you must study and practice yourself for a number of hours per week.
6. Diploma or certificate
For some courses, you take an exam at the end. Sometimes you can take exam training for this. If you pass your exam, you will receive a diploma. For other courses, you will receive a certificate at the end.

Practice
You can find exercises on these sites:
Language Buddy
A language buddy is someone who practices Dutch with you once a week. You agree with each other when and where you will meet. Anyone who wants to learn to speak Dutch better can request a language buddy. To do so, send an email to contact@lerenhelpt.nl including your address, age, country of origin, hobbies, and level of Dutch. Stichting Leren Helpt! will then contact you.
Go to www.lerenhelpt.nl for more information.
Language Café
In a pleasant setting, you talk with other people who also want to learn to speak Dutch better. Under the guidance of volunteers, you talk about everyday things. It does not matter whether you are also taking lessons or not. You practice speaking and you get to know other people.
It is free and there are no conditions.
